The Old Bakery Pod IP-1.JPG

It's all in the making.

Expertly hand built in the UK by our team of professional carpenters. All of our pods are constructed on site from scratch using some of the most innovative materials and processes on the market today. Here's the process from start to finish.

01

Dig It.

First, we lay the foundations, either mini concrete piles or galvanised steel ground screws. Our install team will make sure that everything is level before the all important next steps.

03

Hitting a wall.

The next step is to erect the Structural Insulated Panel walls. Each panel is fixed to the adjacent one and sealed using a combination of strong polyurethane glue and expanding foam.

Keeping the weather out.

Once the roof is on it’s time for the weatherproofing. We use maintenance-free EPDM rubber on our roofs, together with a full wrap of breathable membrane around the sides.

Putting on a facade.

We work with some of the best suppliers in the UK to ensure that we are providing only the best quality materials for our customers. Our range includes Siberian Larch, factory painted softwood and characterful slate cladding from Spain.

Fitting out.

Next it's time to install the internal dry-lining, before doing this we apply a vapour control layer to prevent any moisture getting into places it shouldn’t. For the flooring, we use commercial grade laminate with a high-quality underlay.

02

Turn up the base.

Now it’s time to install the Structural Insulated Panel base, which is fastened to the ground screws to stop it from moving. Before installing the walls we apply a vapour control membrane.

04

Through the roof.

Now it’s time for the roof. We design flat roofs for our garden pods with just the right amount of pitch to ensure that the water runs off in the right direction! For the roof we use slightly thicker SIP panels for strength and thermal performance.

06

Making an entrance.

All of our pods come with premium-grade aluminium bifold doors as standard from one of the UK's top suppliers. As well as allowing plenty of light in, they provide a seamless transition from inside to outside.

08

Electrifying.

As soon as your pod is watertight we will get to work on the electrics. This includes internal/external lighting and double power sockets inside. We use fully trained electricians under Part P of the Building Regulations. Once we are finished we will provide you with the electrical certificate.

10

The cherry on top.

The final parts involve completing the second fix electrics and decorating. Once we are satisfied and the pod has been cleaned, we will offer up the finished article for your inspection and sign off.
